After the final adoption of the common position, this horizontal Directive will amend the existing directives governing the banking, insurance and securities sectors and certain undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities.

The Directive, which must be implemented by the Member States within one year of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Communities, amends the existing Directives governing the banking, insurance and securities sectors and undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities (UCITS).
