The Commission established a High-Level Group in 2005 for a competitive EU Car Industry. This group, called CARS 21, brings together the European Commission, leaders of the automotive industry, the European Parliament, Trade Unions NGOs and Users, and will develop an integrated strategy for sustainable development of the industry, define the best possible regulatory approaches and set the necessary conditions for innovation.
De Commissie heeft in 2005 een groep op hoog niveau opgericht voor een concurrerende auto-industrie in de EU. In deze groep, CARS 21 genaamd, zijn de Europese Commissie, de auto-industrie, het Europees Parlement, de vakbonden, NGO's en de gebruikers vertegenwoordigd. Zij zal een geïntegreerde strategie voor duurzame ontwikkeling van de industrie uitstippelen, de beste aanpak op het gebied van regelgeving bepalen en de randvoorwaarden voor innovatie vaststellen.
