Definition: A depressive episode, which may be prolonged, arising in the aftermath of a schizophrenic illness. Some schizophrenic symptoms, either positive
or negative , must still be present but they no
longer dominate the clinical picture. These depressive states are associated with an increased risk of suicide. If the patient no longer has any schizophrenic symptoms, a depressive episode should be diagnosed (F32.-). Omschrijving: Een depressieve episode, die langdurig kan zijn, optredend in de nasleep van een schizofrene ziekte. Enkele schizofrene symptomen, hetzij 'positieve', hetzij 'negatieve', moeten nog aanwezig zijn, maar zij domineren niet meer het klinische beeld. Deze depressieve toestanden gaan samen met een vergroot risico voor suïcide. Als de patiënt geen enkel schizofreen symptoom meer heeft dient een depressieve episode te worden gediagnosticeerd (F32,-). Als schizofrene symptomen nog floride en opvallend zijn dient de diagnose die van het-van- toepassing-zijnde schizofrene subtype te blijven (F20.0-F20.3).
