According to the Commission's evaluation document, the agreement benefits the Community in that the value of catches far exceeds the cost of the protocol. The protocol also offers further advantages such as guaranteed employment on board fishing vessels, and particularly in ports, auctions, processing factories, shipyards and service industries in the Community and in Mauritius, as well as contributing to the supply of fish to the Community and to the Mauritian population.
Volgens de evaluatie van de Commissie is het akkoord voordelig voor de Gemeenschap in die zin dat de waarde van de vangst duidelijk hoger ligt als de kosten van het protocol, dat ook nog andere voordelen biedt, zoals de gewaarborgde werkgelegenheid aan boord van de vissersvaartuigen en vooral ook in de havens, vismijnen, verwerkingsfabrieken, op de scheepswerven, bij dienstverlenende bedrijven, zowel in de Gemeenschap als op Mauritius. Het protocol helpt ook de bevolking van de Gemeenschap en Mauritius met vis bevoorraden.
