Ongoing European Community external policies and programmes in support of human rights, the consolidation of democracy, the reduction of poverty, the creation of jobs and the overall improvement of the economic situation in the migration countries, the maintenance of peace, etc., all have a bearing on migration given that they address the main factors on which it is necessary to act to reduce the migratory pressure.
Het huidige buitenlandse beleid en de huidige programma's van de Europese Gemeenschap ter ondersteuning van onder meer de mensenrechten, de consolidatie van de democratie, de bestrijding van armoede, het scheppen van werkgelegenheid en de handhaving van vrede, hebben alle te maken met het migratievraagstuk, aangezien zij betrekking hebben op de belangrijkste factoren waarop maatregelen ter vermindering van de migratiedruk moeten worden gericht.
