Encourages the Member States to show solidarity with neighbouring countries, inter alia by: providing and stepping up life-saving assistance to refugees through resettlement and other forms of legal admission; considers that the most vulnerable refugees should be prioritised and guaranteed their full rights in line with the 1951 Refugee Convention;

Although Turkey welcomes many refugees from Syria, it maintains a geographical reservation to the 1951 Refugee Convention, which makes UNHCR legally responsible for determining refugee status of “non-European” applicants and for seeking durable solutions for those recognized as refugees.

Appreciates Egypt’s continuous commitment in fulfilling its obligations under international treaties, in particular under the 1951 Refugees Convention;
