On 21 October 2009, the Commission presented a proposal for the amendment of the Qualification Directive, together with a Proposal amending Council Directive 2005/85/EC on minimum standards on procedures in Member States for granting and withdrawing refugee status (the "Asylum Procedures Directive")[9], with the aim to ensure a higher degree of harmonisation and better substantive and procedural standards of protection, towards the establishment of a common asylum procedure and a uniform status.
Op 21 oktober 2009 heeft de Commissie een voorstel ingediend voor de wijziging van de erkenningsrichtlijn, samen met een voorstel tot wijziging van Richtlijn 2005/85/EG van de Raad betreffende minimumnormen voor de procedures in de lidstaten voor de toekenning of intrekking van de vluchtelingenstatus ("procedurerichtlijn")[9], teneinde bij de totstandbrenging van een gemeenschappelijke asielprocedure en een uniforme status een hogere graad van harmonisatie te bereiken en betere materiële en procedurele beschermingsnormen te bieden.
