lcomes the decisive operational support provided by OLAF's Task Force on
combating cigarette smuggling; the agreement prov
...[+++]ides for measures to prevent cigarette smuggling in the long term and seeks to settle the disputes between the Community and the undertaking; in addition, over a 12-year period PMI will pay a sum of roughly US $1 250 000 000 to the Community and the Member States; calls on the Member States and the Commission to use these payments to fund measures to prevent and combat cigarette smuggling, including anti-counterfeiting activities; calls on the Commission to make proposals on the use of a substantial part of these revenues, and if necessary to present a preliminary draft amending budget and proposals for a legal basis; 31. is in dit verband uiterst verheugd over het akkoord inzake de bestrijding van sigarettensmokkel dat is gesloten tussen de Commissie (samen met België, Duitsland, Griekenland, Spanje, Frankrijk, Italië, Luxemburg, Nederland, Portugal en Finland) en Philip Morris International (PMI); spreekt in dit verband zijn lof uit over de succesvolle wijze waarop de Commissie met OLAF heeft samengewerkt en is ingenomen met

ermijn een einde te maken ...[+++] aan de sigarettensmokkel, alsmede in het bijleggen van de conflicten tussen de Gemeenschap en de onderneming; verder zal PMI over een periode van twaalf jaar ongeveer 1,25 miljard dollar betalen aan de Gemeenschap en de lidstaten; verzoekt de lidstaten en de Commissie deze betalingen te gebruiken voor de financiering van maatregelen ter voorkoming en bestrijding van sigarettensmokkel, waaronder het tegengaan van namaakproducten; verzoekt de Commissie voorstellen te doen voor de besteding van een aanzienlijk deel van deze inkomsten en, zo nodig, een voorontwerp van gewijzigde begroting in te dienen en een rechtsgrondslag voor te stellen;
