It becomes clear, where maritime policy is concerned, how closely interwoven the individual policies are, and how important it is to see the different areas as a mutually supporting circulatory system. In other words, a clean maritime environment influences the maritime economy, tourism, biodiversity, the employment situation and ports to an equal extent.
Juist in het maritiem beleid wordt duidelijk hoe nauw de afzonderlijke beleidsgebieden met elkaar verweven zijn en hoe belangrijk het is om de afzonderlijke gebieden als een op elkaar steunende kringloop te zien. Dit betekent: een schoon maritiem milieu is in dezelfde mate van invloed op de maritieme economie, het toerisme, de biodiversiteit, de werkgelegenheid en de havens.
