The purpose of this Directive is to implement the European Agreement on the organisation of working time of mobile staff in civil aviation concluded on 22 March 2000 between the organisations representing management and labour in the civil aviation sector: the Association of European Airlines (AEA), the European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF), the European Cockpit Association (ECA), the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) and the International Air Carrier Association (IACA).
Het doel van deze richtlijn is rechtsgevolg geven aan de Europese Overeenkomst betreffende de organisatie van de arbeidstijd van mobiel personeel in de burgerluchtvaart, die op 22 maart 2000 tussen de werkgevers- en werknemersorganisaties in de burgerluchtvaartsector, de Association of European Airlines (AEA), de European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF), de European Cockpit Association (ECA), de European Regions Airline Association (ERA) en de International Air Carrier Association (IACA), werd gesloten.
