The White Paper on Food Safety [30], which was published at the beginning of 2000, showed that the Commission regarded ensuring the highest standards of food safety in the EU as one of its main priorities. In this regard, it should be noted that methods of analysis are necessary to check compliance with safety requirements for food or materials that come into contact with food.
