Shares the Commission's views on the importance of the preventive arm of the SGP, on support and reminders for the Member States and on the exchange of best practices; agrees, in particular, that the preventative arm should be based on a medium-term approach to budgetary policies and on coordination at Community level, given that effective action requires joint understanding of the economic and budgetary policy challenges in the European Union and a strong political commitment to addressing these through counter-cyclical interventions that pull in the same direction;
18. deelt de mening van de Commissie over het belang van het preventieve deel van het SGP, over steun en aansporingen aan de lidstaten en de uitwisseling van beste praktijken; stemt er met name mee in dat het preventieve deel moet berusten op een middellangetermijnaanpak van het begrotingsbeleid en op coördinatie op communautair niveau, omdat voor doelmatig optreden een gedeeld inzicht in de uitdagingen voor het economisch en budgettair beleid in de Europese Unie nodig is, evenals een sterke politieke motivatie om deze uitdagingen met gelijkgerichte anticyclische ingrepen aan te gaan;
