(5) Organic production also contributes to the achievements of the Union environmental policy objectives, in particular those of the 2020 Biodiversity Strategy[16], the Green Infrastructure Communication[17], the Soil Thematic Strategy[18] and environmental legislation such as the Birds[19] and Habits[20] Directives, the Nitrates Directive[21], the Water Framework Directive[22], the National Emissions Ceiling Directive[23] and the Directive on the sustainable use of pesticides[24].
(5) De biologische productie draagt tevens bij aan de verwezenlijking van de doelstellingen van het milieubeleid van de Unie, met name die van de biodiversiteitstrategie voor 2020[16], de mededeling over groene infrastructuur[17], de thematische strategie voor bodembescherming[18] en milieuwetgeving zoals de vogelrichtlijn[19], de habitatrichtlijn[20], de nitratenrichtlijn[21], de kaderrichtlijn water[22], de richtlijn nationale emissieplafonds[23] en de richtlijn duurzaam gebruik van pesticiden[24].
