Mr Flynn concluded by saying that the discussions at the Forum, which involved cardiologists and other medical experts as well as Government representatives, had provided ample food for thought for both the Commission and the health authorities of the Member States, and that the development of effective strategies to combat heart diseases in the public health field and in related areas was now a matter of priority.
De heer Flynn besloot zijn toespraak met de opmerking dat de discussies tijdens het Forum, waaraan cardiologen en andere medische deskundigen alsook regeringsvertegenwoordigers deelnamen, zowel de Commissie als de gezondheidsautoriteiten van de Lid-Staten rijkelijk stof tot nadenken hadden gegeven en dat de ontwikkeling van doeltreffende strategieën ter bestrijding van hartziekten op het gebied van de volksgezondheid en aanverwante terreinen nu voorrang genoot.
