Like all other parts of the world, Europe is facing three major issues: (1) the depletion of the earth’s natural resources, including climate change and biodiversity loss; (2) social inequalities, including youth unemployment, people left behind in regions with declining industries; and (3) public loss of trust in government, the political establishment, and the EU and its governance structures, as well as other institutions.
Net als alle andere delen van de wereld wordt Europa geconfronteerd met drie belangrijke vraagstukken: 1) de natuurlijke hulpbronnen van de aarde die uitgeput raken, alsook klimaatverandering en verlies aan biodiversiteit; 2) sociale ongelijkheid, met inbegrip van jeugdwerkloosheid en mensen die aan hun lot zijn overgelaten in regio’s met achtergebleven industrieën, en 3) het verlies aan vertrouwen van het publiek in de overheid, het politieke establishment, de EU en haar bestuursstructuren, en andere instellingen.
