(g) The undesirable developments and low prices in the road transport sector are partly attributable to the fact that loopholes in the legislation, or the absence of legislation in some countries, are used to ensure that, while professional drivers work at low prices, they do so in unacceptable conditions. The introduction of uniform driver certification, compulsory basic and further training and tighter controls will therefore have a positive economic effect on the entire sector.
(g) De negatieve ontwikkelingen en de lage prijzen bij het wegvervoer zijn onder meer daaraan te wijten dat leemten in de wetgeving of het ontbreken van wetgeving in bepaalde landen benut wordt om het beroep van vrachtwagenchauffeur weliswaar tegen lage tarieven, echter onder onaanvaardbare omstandigheden uit te oefenen. De invoering van een uniform chauffeurscertificaat, verplichte opleiding en bijscholing en versterking van de controles zullen derhalve positieve economische gevolgen voor de gehele sector hebben.
