Emphasises that the SSM aims at ensuring confidence in the euro area banking sector, and thus financial stability; recalls that the democratic accountability of the new SSM before the European Parliament is crucial for ensuring the credibility of the new supervisory regime; stresses, therefore, the importance of the November 2013 interinstitutional agreement between Parliament and the ECB on the practical modalities of the exercise of democratic accountability over the SSM, and of its full implementation;
47. benadrukt dat het GTM tot doel heeft het vertrouwen in het bankwezen in de eurozone, en daarmee de financiële stabiliteit te waarborgen; herinnert eraan dat de democratische verantwoordingsplicht van het nieuwe GTM jegens het Europees Parlement van cruciaal belang is voor het waarborgen van de geloofwaardigheid van het nieuwe toezichtstelsel; benadrukt dan ook het belang van het in november 2013 tussen het Parlement en de ECB gesloten interinstitutioneel akkoord inzake de praktische modaliteiten voor de uitoefening van democratische controle op het GTM, en van de volledige uitvoering daarvan;
