I am not talking about the notorious prisons of Saddam, the Taliban, Syria or other dictatorships, but about Guantanamo, which is controlled by the United States of America. Let us not forget that the USA is a country that played a central role in the construction of international human rights law and that under the Bush Administration is violating those rights in ignominious fashion, including the minimum standards of the Geneva Convention.
Ik heb het niet over de beruchte gevangenissen van Saddam, de Taliban, Syrië of andere dictatoriale regimes, maar over Guantánamo, dat onder toezicht van de Verenigde Staten staat, het land dat ooit een centrale rol speelde bij het opstellen van de internationale wetgeving inzake mensenrechten, maar dat onder de regering-Bush die rechten op grove wijze schendt, inclusief de minimumvereisten van de Geneefse Conventie.
