(2) In its White Paper "European transport policy for 2010: time to decide", the Commission indicated the need to tighten up checks and sanctions particularly for social legislation on road transport activities, and specifically to increase the number of checks, to encourage the systematic exchange of information between Member States, to coordinate inspection activities and to promote the training of enforcement officers.
(2) In het Witboek "Het Europese vervoersbeleid tot het jaar 2010: tijd om te kiezen", heeft de Commissie aangegeven dat aanscherping van de controles en sancties noodzakelijk is, met name op het gebied van de sociale wetgeving betreffende het wegvervoer, en dat het vooral nodig is het aantal controles op te voeren, de systematische informatie-uitwisseling tussen de lidstaten te stimuleren, de controleactiviteiten te coördineren en de opleiding van handhavingsambtenaren te bevorderen.
