For biological medicinal products, starting materials shall mean any substance of biological origin such as micro-organisms, organs and tissues of either plant or animal origin, cells or fluids (including blood or plasma) of human or animal origin, and biotechnological cell constructs (cell substrates, whether they are recombinant or not, including primary cells).
Voor biologische geneesmiddelen worden onder „grondstoffen” verstaan alle substanties van biologische oorsprong, zoals micro-organismen, organen en weefsels van plantaardige of dierlijke oorsprong, cellen of vloeistoffen (met inbegrip van bloed of plasma) van menselijke of dierlijke oorsprong, en biotechnologische celpreparaten (celsubstraten, ongeacht of zij recombinant zijn of niet, met inbegrip van primaire cellen).
