Without prejudice to the obligation of Member States to uphold the Treaty rules on State aid, including specific notification requirements in this context, Member States may notify the Commission of the financing mechanisms used to cover any net costs of the universal service, which should be reflected in the regular reports that the Commission should present to the European Parliament and Council on the application of Directive 97/67/EC.
Onverminderd de verplichting van de lidstaten om zich te houden aan de voorschriften van het Verdrag met betrekking tot staatssteun, inclusief specifieke aanmeldingsvereisten in dat verband, kunnen de lidstaten de financieringsmechanismen die zij aanwenden om de nettokosten van de universele dienst te dekken, ter kennis brengen van de Commissie, die deze financieringsmechanismen vermeldt in het periodieke verslag over de toepassing van Richtlijn 97/67/EG dat zij voorlegt aan het Europees Parlement en de Raad.
