(11) Whereas in order to establish a high level of protection which at the same time meets the requirements of the internal market and the need to establish a legal environment conducive to the harmonious development of literary and artistic creation in the Community, the term of protection for copyright should be harmonized at 70 years after the death of the author or 70 years after the work is lawfully made available to the public, and for related rights at 50 years after the event which sets the term running;
11. Overwegende dat, met het oog op de invoering van een hoog beschermingsniveau dat tegemoet komt aan de eisen van de interne markt zowel als aan de behoefte aan een juridisch kader dat de harmonieuze ontwikkeling van de creativiteit in de Gemeenschap bevordert, de beschermingstermijn voor het auteursrecht moet worden gebracht op 70 jaar na de dood van de auteur of op 70 jaar nadat het werk op geoorloofde wijze voor het publiek toegankelijk is gemaakt, en voor de naburige rechten op 50 jaar na het feit dat de termijn doet ingaan;
