One characteristic feature of this state of affairs is the marginalisation of, in the main, left-wing opinions, the treatment of whole sections of the population as criminals and pariahs, and the downgrading of the role of journalists to that of mere hired hands, who are forced unquestioningly to respect and defend the editor’s political platform.
Een kenmerkend fenomeen dat met deze situatie samenhangt, is de segregatie van met name linkse opinies, verder het te kijk zetten en criminaliseren van volledige bevolkingsgroepen, alsook het reduceren van de rol van journalisten tot loonslaven die het politieke platform van de uitgever moeten respecteren en uitdragen.
