The Commission should be entitled to deploy a task force to monitor gas flows in crisis situations within and, in consultation with the third countries involved, outside the Community and, where a crisis arises due to difficulties in a third country, to assume a mediation and facilitation role through the Vice-President of the Commission/High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in close cooperation with the holders of the relevant portfolios within the college of Commissioners.
De Commissie moet gemachtigd worden een monitoringseenheid op te zetten om in crisissituaties de gasstromen te monitoren binnen en, in overleg met betrokken derde landen, buiten de Gemeenschap en, wanneer een crisis ontstaat ten gevolge van moeilijkheden in een derde land, om door middel van de Vice-Voorzitter van de Commissie/Hoge vertegenwoordiger van de Unie voor buitenlandse zaken en veiligheidsbeleid, in nauwe samenwerking met de houders van de relevante portefeuilles binnen het college van Commissieleden, een rol als bemiddelaar en facilitator te spelen.
