It is essential that, from its inception, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) is in a position to exercise its powers so as to ensure the vigorous supervision of credit rating agencies active within the EU, as well as those from third countries whose ratings are authorised within the EU, in full cooperation with their national authorities.
Het is van groot belang dat de Europese autoriteit voor effecten en markten in staat is om zijn mandaat te verwezenlijken en een goed toezicht uit te oefenen op ratingbureaus die actief zijn in de Europese Unie, en tevens op bureaus in derde landen waarvan de ratings bekrachtigd worden in de Europese Unie, in volledige samenwerking met de nationale autoriteiten van die landen.
