Highlights the need to develop indicators that track progress in the field of innovation policy and allow for an evaluation of the performance of policy measures in place, following the example of the Research and Innovation Union scoreboard; welcomes the proposal to monitor innovation progress in Member States within the framework of the ‘European Semester’;

41. Supports the proposals for an ‘Innovation Union Scoreboard’ and checklist of the features of successful innovation systems, which are crucial in advancing innovation in the European Union; calls for an annual Innovation Convention to measure the progress made in this regard;
