Through these projects it has been found that small but numerous diffuse sources, mainly in the residential sector have a considerably greater potential for dioxin emissions than in the EU. This is due to the widespread use of solid fuels, and possibly to the co-incineration and open burning of waste.
Bij deze projecten is gebleken dat de kleine maar vele diffuse bronnen, vooral in de huishoudelijke sector, voor een aanzienlijk hogere dioxine-emissie kunnen zorgen dan in de EU. Dit wordt veroorzaakt door het grootschalig gebruik van vaste brandstoffen en wellicht door het meestoken en in de open lucht verbranden van afval.
