For efficacy, balance and fairness, national policies for economic growth and wellbeing should be crafted and coordinated also with the general interest of the euro area in mind; for reasons of democratic accountability and ownership, the processes of the European Semester, which cuts across national and European policies should involve the Commission, the European Council, the European Parliament, national parliaments, the social partners and civil society.
Om wille van efficiëntie, evenwichtigheid en rechtvaardigheid moet het nationaal beleid voor economische groei en welvaart worden aangestuurd en gecoördineerd met ook het algemeen belang van de eurozone in het achterhoofd. En om redenen van democratische verantwoordingsplicht en betrokkenheid moeten de Commissie, de Raad, het EP, de nationale parlementen, de sociale partners en het maatschappelijk middenveld een rol in het Europees Semester spelen dat namelijk betrekking heeft op zowel nationaal als Europees beleid.
