The ozone layer, which is 15-25 km above the earth, is a global shield in the stratosphere which protects the earth from harmful solar rays. It should not be confused with ground-level ozone which can cause local air pollution. The Ozone Layer Regulation (2037/2000) aims to eliminate the production and use of substances that deplete the ozone layer.
