In this context, the Commission noted with regret that the US approach to auditing standards as laid down in the SOA, and the recent PCAOB decision on audit standard setting in the US, does not pursue a similar international direction of mutual acceptance of a comprehensive set of internationally accepted high quality auditing standards.
In dit verband betreurt de Commissie te moeten vaststellen dat noch de VS-benadering van de standaarden voor accountantscontrole zoals deze in de SOA is vormgegeven, noch het recente PCAOB-besluit over de vaststelling van standaarden voor accountantscontrole in de VS in de lijn liggen van het internationale streven naar wederzijdse erkenning van een veelomvattend samenstel van internationaal aanvaarde, kwalitatief hoogwaardige standaarden voor accountantscontrole.
