A wide consultation of all relevant stakeholders on asylum policies, launched with the publication in June 2007 of the Green Paper on the future of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS)[5], revealed a broad acknowledgement that resettlement should be central to the external asylum policies of the EU and that there is much to be gained from a higher degree of cooperation on resettlement among Member States, the UNHCR and NGOs.
Een brede raadpleging van alle belanghebbenden bij het asielbeleid, waarvoor het startschot werd gegeven met de publicatie in juni 2007 van het groenboek over de toekomst van het gemeenschappelijk Europees asielstelsel (CEAS)[5] , bracht aan het licht dat algemeen wordt erkend dat hervestiging centraal dient te staan in het externe asielbeleid van de EU en dat er veel te winnen is bij een intensievere samenwerking tussen de lidstaten, het UNHCR en NGO's op het gebeid van hervestiging.
