The Commission today put into force its decision of June 7th to open an investigation on State aid awarded by the Spanish authorities to the Spanish car maker SEAT, S.A. and its parent company VOLKSWAGEN, A.G. In July 1994 the Spanish Government publicly announced the conclusion of an agreement with VW and SEAT committing financial support totalling 46,000 million pesetas, from the national administration (38,000 million pesetas) and from the regional Government of Catalunya (8,000 million pesetas) in favour of some 50 technological innovation projects as well as a training programme of SEAT.
