If the test chemical has been shown to be developmentally toxic either in a standard developmental toxicity study or in a pilot study, the highest dose level should be the maximum dose which will not induce excessive offspring toxicity, or in utero or neonatal death or malformations, sufficient to preclude a meaningful evaluation of neurotoxicity.
Als gebleken is dat de teststof toxisch is voor de ontwikkeling, hetzij in een standaard-ontwikkelingstoxiciteitsonderzoek, hetzij in een verkennend onderzoek, moet het hoogste dosisniveau de maximale dosis zijn die geen overmatige toxiciteit bij nakomelingen, of in utero dan wel neonatale sterfte of misvormingen induceert die voldoende is/zijn om een beletsel te vormen voor een betekenisvolle beoordeling van neurotoxiciteit.
