Agrees with the proposed equipping of all new vehicles with Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS) in 2003 and Daytime Running Lights (DRL) in 2002; points out, however, that DRL in some southern European countries are forbidden, which means that it should be possible to switch them off if national legislation does not allow DRL;
11. gaat akkoord met de voorgestelde uitrusting van alle nieuwe voertuigen met anti-blokkeerremsystemen (ABS) in 2003 en dagrijlicht (DRL) in 2002, maar wijst erop dat DRL in sommige Zuid-Europese landen verboden is, hetgeen betekent dat het DRL-systeem uitschakelbaar moet zijn als de nationale wetgeving DRL verbiedt;
