(6 ) The Sixth Environment Action Programme of the European Community identifies the need to base the formulation , implementation and evaluation of environmental policies on a knowledge-based approach and, in particular, the need to monitor the multiple roles of forests in line with recommendations adopted by the Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe, the United Nations Forum on Forests, the Convention on Biological Diversity, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and other fora.
(6) In het zesde milieuactieprogramma van de Europese Gemeenschap wordt vastgesteld dat het noodzakelijk is bij uitwerking, uitvoering en evaluatie van milieubeleidsmaatregelen uit te gaan van een op kennis gebaseerde benadering en in het bijzonder de meervoudige taken van bossen te bewaken overeenkomstig de aanbevelingen van de ministeriële conferenties over de bescherming van bossen in Europa, het bossenforum van de Verenigde Naties, het Verdrag inzake biodiversiteit, het Raamverdrag van de Verenigde Naties inzake klimaatverandering en andere fora.
