Following the entry into force of Directive 2004/40/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (electromagnetic fields) (18th individual Directive within the meaning of Article 16(1) of Directive 89/391/EEC) (3), serious concerns were expressed by stakeholders, in particular those from the medical community, as to the potential impact of the implementation of that Directive on the use of medical procedures based on medical imaging.
Na de inwerkingtreding van Richtlijn 2004/40/EG van het Europees Parlement en de Raad van 29 april 2004 betreffende de minimumvoorschriften inzake gezondheid en veiligheid met betrekking tot de blootstelling van werknemers aan de risico’s van fysische agentia (elektromagnetische velden) (achttiende individuele richtlijn als bedoeld in artikel 16, lid 1, van Richtlijn 89/391/EEG) (3) zijn door belanghebbenden, met name binnen de medische wereld, ernstige bedenkingen geuit over de mogelijke gevolgen van de tenuitvoerlegging van die richtlijn voor de toepassing van medische procedures op basis van medische beeldvorming.
