The EU’s 5-year radio spectrum policy programme defines the strategic planning and harmonisation of the use of spectrum for areas of the EU’s internal market that use spectrum, such as electronic communications, research and space, transport, energy and audiovisual policies, as access to radio spectrum is essential for a vast range of activities from wireless communications and broadcasting and short-range devices, through to transport, public safety and space applications.
In het Europese vijfjarenprogramma voor het radiospectrumbeleid wordt de strategische planning en harmonisatie van het gebruik van spectrum bepaald voor terreinen van de Europese interne markt waarbij het gebruik van spectrum is betrokken, zoals de beleidsterreinen elektronische communicatie, onderzoek en ruimtevaart, vervoer, energie en audiovisuele aangelegenheden, aangezien toegang tot het spectrum essentieel is voor allerlei activiteiten, van draadloze communicatie, televisie- en radio-uitzendingen, en korteafstandsapparatuur tot toepassingen voor vervoer, openbare veiligheid en ruimtevaart.
