È indubbiamente importante promuovere con ogni mezzo la diversità linguistica dell’Unione europea, in particolare tra i giovani, ma una politica di questo tipo non deve andare a scapito del rispetto per l’idioma locale sancito per legge: penso, per esempio, al nederlandese nella provincia del Brabante fiammingo, nelle Fiandre.
It is certainly valuable to promote the linguistic diversity of the youth, in particular, of the EU in every possible way, but a policy of that nature must not be at the expense of legal respect for the local vernacular. I am thinking, for instance, of the Dutch language in the province of Flemish Brabant in Flanders.
