In tale contesto va ricordata anche la direttiva 2000/54/CE relativa alla protezione dei lavoratori contro i rischi derivanti da un'esposizione ad agenti biologici durante il lavoro, che menziona gli agenti biologici piuttosto che i microrganismi, e fra gli agenti biologici include i microrganismi geneticamente modificati[8], le colture cellulari e gli endoparassiti umani che possono provocare infezioni, allergie o tossicità.
In this context it is also important to mention the Directive (EC) No 2000/54 on the protection of workers from risks related to exposure to biological agents at work.
