"foreste" , ovvero terreni con copertura arborea (o densità equivalente) superiore al 10% e una superficie di oltre 0,5 ettari, con alberi che dovrebbero raggiungere alla maturità un'altezza minima in situ di 5 m. Le foreste possono consistere in formazioni forestali chiuse, in cui una parte consistente del terreno è ricoperta da alberi di varia altezza e da vegetazione di sottobosco; oppure in formazioni forestali aperte con copertura vegetale continua dove la copertura delle chiome arboree supera il 10%.
"Forest" means land with tree crown cover (or equivalent stocking level) of more than 10% and area of more than 0.5 ha. The trees should be able to reach a minimum height of 5m at maturity in situ. A forest may consist either of closed forest formations where trees of various heights and undergrowth cover a high proportion of the ground, or of open forest formations with continuous vegetation cover in which tree crown cover exceeds 10%.
