1. sottolinea che la politica di austerità finanziaria riguarderà anche il bilancio 2001 e che la definizione di una scala di priorità per le esigenze delle varie Istituzioni continua ad essere quanto mai importante per evitare che sia raggiunto il massimale della rubrica 5; sottolinea la necessità che ogni richiesta di spesa aggiuntiva sia debitamente motivata, che sia approvata solo a fronte di nuovi compiti e, per le richieste di personale aggiuntivo, solo allorché non sia possibile procedere a una riassegnazione di posti;

Points out that the policy of budgetary rigour will also apply in the 2001 budget and that setting priorities amongst the needs of the various institutions continues to be extremely important, to avoid the ceiling of heading 5 expenditure being reached; emphasises that every request for additional expenditure has to be duly justified, and may, in principle, be granted only for new tasks, and, in respect of requests for new staff, only where redeployment is not possible;
