The new instruments foster linkage between basic scientists and clinicians, between academia and industry, between disciplines (physicists, geneticists, computer scientists, etc.), involving both the natural sciences and experts in ethics and social sciences, and between the scientific communities and consumer and patient organisations, etc. The goal of stimulating these interactions is not unique to Europe, but the European experience may benefit the international scientific community and serve as a model for other nations.
De nieuwe instrumenten stimuleren tot een koppeling tussen fundamentele wetenschappers en clinici, tussen universiteiten en de industrie, tussen disciplines (fysici, genetici, informatici enz.) uit zowel de natuurwetenschappen als de ethiek en de sociale wetenschappen en tussen de wetenschappelijke wereld en consumenten- en patiëntenverenigingen enz. Het is niet alleen Europa dat streeft naar het stimuleren van deze interactie, maar de internationale wetenschappelijke wereld kan wellicht profiteren van de Europese ervaring die als een model voor andere landen kan fungeren.
