EU citizens need to understand the benefits to be derived from biological diversity and ecosystems. Considering that the reduction of diversity has an effect on the production of food, fuel, materials and medicines, on the regulation of water, air and climate, on the maintenance of agricultural soil fertility, and the circulation of foodstuffs.
De burgers van de EU moeten inzien wat de voordelen zijn van behoud van biodiversiteit en ecosystemen en begrijpen dat afnemende biodiversiteit gevolgen heeft voor de productie van voedsel, brandstoffen, materialen en medicijnen, voor de water-, lucht- en klimaatsystemen, voor de vruchtbaarheid van landbouwgrond en voor de verspreiding van voedingsmiddelen.
