Whilst the economic and financial crisis shifted the focus of industrial competitiveness policies towards short-term rescue and recovery actions, in the future the attention of policy makers has to focus on long-term structural challenges, in particular maintaining global competitiveness, climate change, energy, population ageing, skills and knowledge.
De economische en financiële crisis heeft het zwaartepunt van de beleidsmaatregelen voor het industriële concurrentievermogen verlegd naar reddings- en herstelacties op korte termijn, maar in de toekomst moet de aandacht van beleidsmakers worden gericht op structurele uitdagingen op lange termijn, met name de instandhouding van het concurrentievermogen op wereldvlak, de klimaatverandering, energie, de vergrijzing van de bevolking, vaardigheden en kennis.
