1. Member States shall ensure that officials likely to come into contact with victims, such as police officers and court staff receive both general and specialist training to a level appropriate to their contact with victims to sensitise them to the needs of victims and to deal with them in an impartial, respectful and professional manner.

De lidstaten zorgen ervoor dat de ambtenaren die met het slachtoffer in contact kunnen komen, zoals politiefunctionarissen en justitieel personeel, een algemene en een gespecialiseerde opleiding krijgen op een niveau dat aangepast is aan hun contact met het slachtoffer, waarin zij gevoelig worden gemaakt voor de behoeften van het slachtoffer, en hun wordt geleerd op een onpartijdige, respectvolle en professionele manier met het slachtoffer om te gaan.
