Proposes that Community funds be used to develop new forms of tourism to help improve the profitability of the sector, for example rural tourism, health and especially spa tourism, or social tourism aimed not only at workers, but also at young and retired people, who constitute markets offering considerable potential growth; stresses the need to promote special forms of tourism such as incentive travel, spa tourism, tours to religious sites and commemorative tours, while working to combat sex tourism and the like and impose penalties on those in the profession who encourage such practices by selling tourism products of that nature;
29. pleit voor financiële steun van de Gemeenschap ter bevordering van nieuwe vormen van toerisme die de seizoensgebondenheid van de sector helpen opheffen, zoals plattelandstoerisme, gezondheidstoerisme, met name thermaal toerisme, of sociaal toerisme, niet alleen voor de werkende klasse maar ook voor jongeren en gepensioneerden, die een potentieel grote groeimarkt vertegenwoordigen; onderstreept de noodzaak om het sekstoerisme en zijn uitwassen te bestrijden en vraagt om sancties te nemen tegen personen die dergelijke praktijken steunen door op dergelijk toerisme gerichte producten te verkopen;
