The decision to give up the Irish sugar quota was not taken by the Commission on the basis of the data available at the time of the reform, but by the management of the Irish sugar factory, who are undoubtedly best placed to assess the future competitiveness of the factory’s production in the internal sugar market, in the conditions in force post-reform.
Het besluit om het Ierse suikerquotum te laten voor wat het is, is niet door de Commissie genomen op basis van de gegevens die beschikbaar waren ten tijde van de hervorming, maar door de directie van de Ierse suikerfabriek, die ongetwijfeld dé aangewezen instantie is voor de beoordeling van het toekomstige concurrentievermogen van haar productie op de communautaire suikermarkt, onder de marktomstandigheden na de herstructurering.
