The cases concerned two Luxembourg nationals and their sickness funds, the latter having refused reimbursement of the cost of medical treatment received abroad (purchase of spectacles in Belgium in the first case and treatment from an orthodontist in Germany in the second case) on the grounds that no prior authorisation had been sought.
