a) "strumento di pagamento", uno strumento materiale, diverso dalla moneta a corso legale (vale a dire banconote e monete), che, in virtù della sua particolare natura, da solo o in associazione ad un altro strumento (di pagamento), consenta al titolare/utente di trasferire denaro o valore monetario, come ad esempio carte di credito, carte eurocheque, altre carte emesse da istituti finanziari, travellers' cheque, eurocheques, altri assegni e cambiali, protetti contro imitazioni o uso fraudolento, per esempio mediante disegno, codice o firma.
(a) "Payment instrument" shall mean a corporeal instrument, other than legal tender (bank notes and coins), enabling, by its specific nature, alone or in conjunction with another (payment) instrument, the holder or user to transfer money or monetary value, as for example credit cards, eurocheque cards, other cards issued by financial institutions, travellers' cheques, eurocheques, other cheques and bills of exchange, which is protected against imitation or fraudulent use, for example through design, coding or signature.
