Nell'esercizio dei poteri loro conferiti dall'articolo 72 del Postal Services Act del 2000, le autorità avevano ordinato alla RM di trasferire i depositi in contanti, derivanti dai profitti da essa realizzati (in totale circa 1 800 milioni di GBP), dall'NLF a una riserva speciale iscritta nel bilancio della RM stessa (la riserva delle poste).
The authorities directed Royal Mail, using the powers under section 72 of the Postal Services Act 2000, to credit its cash deposits with the NLF generated by the accumulated profits of the business (totalling some GBP 1 800 million) to a special reserve on the Royal Mail balance sheet (the Mails Reserve).
